Fear the LORD Your God

13It is the LORD your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear.” – Deuteronomy 6:13 (ESV)

I have to remember that respect and adoration for God should always be at the top of mind. It is important for me to be in tune with Him at all times and remember that He is the one in control.

14You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are around you—15for the LORD your God in your midst is a jealous God—lest the anger of the LORD your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.” – Deuteronomy 6:14-15 (ESV)

And when I do not have that respect and adoration for God, you see the consequences of my actions, destruction. I am interested in staying here in this world with the ones I love, as long as I can. What better way to make that more of a reality than to love God with all my heart, mind, body, and soul.

Can I be taken from this world at any time? Yes, of course as we are on God’s time and not our own. But, when we are working for God here on earth, we are here until we have completed that work and He is ready for us to come be with Him in heaven. By fearing God, we put ourselves in a place of knowing who is in ultimate control of our lives and everything in them.

What approach are you taking with God? Are you trying to run the show yourself? What if you feared the LORD your God and did His work?
