How much mercy am I afforded with God?
“1Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.” – Psalm 51:1 (ESV)
An abundant amount. More than I can imagine. More than I deserve.
I am a sinner and for that I should be accountable, and I am. But not the way I should be. As a child of God, my sins have been forgiven by my Father in heaven, through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. He knew I was a sinner and died for me on purpose to demonstrate His abundant mercy and steadfast love.
I have it pretty good when I look at how God has treated me for my life in this world so far. He has forgiven my sins, given me salvation, and adopted me as His son so that I may inherit all when I reach heaven. All of that would not be possible without the abundant mercy and steadfast love He has for me.
I can only wonder how much different things would be for me without His abundant mercy and steadfast love. Where would I be? Who would I be? Christ has given me the chance to show others the mercy He provides and just how abundant that mercy is.
Are you where you should be in Christ? Are aware of the mercy He has given? What are your thoughts on the abundant mercy provided by Christ?
