“17For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.” – Romans 5:17 (ESV)
Adam sinned freely. Yes Eve ate of the tree first, it was Adam that did so on his own even through he knew it to be wrong based on his conversations with God. That one sin led to the open sins of the world. Without that one act of disobedience sin was realized in the world. That one sin led way to my existence and my sins.
Adam opened the world for sin, and Jesus Christ opened the world for salvation. Jesus’ death on the cross, done freely, covered the sins of the time and all of the sins of the future. All I had to do was to accept the gift of salvation and live my life striving to be more like Christ every day. The one act of love led way to the forgiveness of my sins.
Abundant death was the work of the time as a result of the sin committed freely by Adam. Abundant life is the work of now as a result of the death on the cross committed freely by Christ.
I am grateful for my Lord, Jesus Christ and the gift He gave freely for me, even when I was 2000 years away.
Are you living in death at the had of the sin committed by Adam? Or, are you taking part in the life given thanks to the death committed by Christ? Will you accept the abundance given by the one man, Jesus Christ?
