I have often looked for that thing that leaves little to the imagination. I am someone that depends on data and tangible to move forward, and that is one of the reasons that I spend time reading and studying God’s Word. I am looking for the tangible to explain what is happening, happened, is going to happen. As I say that, I also have to admit my reliance on God for all and it is His way that leads me, thanks to the study of His Word.
This morning I was led to Psalm 19 where I was reminded of the simplicity that is found in the Word of God.
“7The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; 8the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.” – Psalm 19:7-9 (ESV)
These words of David ring true for me. I am reminded of just how relying on the LORD is good for me. He provides simple instruction that really does not take a lot to grasp the concept. I have to remember to take Him at His word.
I don’t want this to be confused and though that following God in action is simple, pure, and clean, because that could not be further from the truth. This world makes it difficult to continually act according to God’s plan, but, the words are simple enough to understand at the onset and only with continued study are we able to further simplify the actions of following the Word of God daily.
Are you making the words more difficult to understand than they actually are? What are the actions that you are taking that you could simplify by following the Word of the LORD? What if you took the approach of simplicity, purity, and cleanliness with the Word of God?
