Seek God as Your Strong Tower of Protection

I have a home that protects me against the elements of weather outside. It also somewhat protects me against those that seek to harm me (I say somewhat as if a criminal wants to harm they will find a way to accomplish that). But there is more complete protection that I can rely on.

1Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; 2from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I, 3for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy.” – Psalm 61:1-3 (ESV)

God provides protection from all and all we need do is ask and rely on Him. Notice the words of David, “Hear my cry”. David is reaching out to God for help in all situations. And He knows that God provides shelter and a stronghold to find safety and comfort, “you have been my refuge, a strong tower”. What a statement by a man. Granted, a man after God’s own heart, but a man none the less. David knows that in his time of need, he should be seeking God’s strong tower of protection.

I find myself in need and in those times it is up to me to seek help and protection. I must remember that protection is best sought and found in God. He is my refuge and my strong tower of protection “against any enemy”, whether physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. God provides the answers to all of my prayers. I must seek His face and strong tower.

When you are in need, where is it that you are seeking protection? Are you looking to do things on your own? What if you were to seek the strong tower of protection from God instead?
