I am taken this morning to Alaska and the periods when the sun does not set. During that time, the light of day is always there. No darkness, jut light 24 hrs a day.
“11Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.” – Romans 13:11-13 (ESV)
As a child of God, I have the same period of light always on me. Not the sunlight, but the light of God. As such I am always in the light. I am visible for all to see. I am not hidden from view. I have a responsibility to walk in the light for all to see with the Christ as the focus of my every day.
It is easy to stay in the darkness, and frankly there have been days that I have not felt much like walking in the light. I felt like finding a dark place to just settle in and hide from everyone and everything.
That however is not the possible, as God always knows right where we are and will shine His light on us. He will allow us the opportunity to relax for a moment, but hiding is not in the cards. We are children of God and therefore will be in the light always.
Do you imagine yourself always being in the light? When you have wanted to hide in the darkness, have you found it difficult as God seems to always be shining the light on you? Will you be prepared to always walk in the light?
