The Hatred is Because of the Truth

“¹⁹If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” – John 15:19 (ESV)

What a revelation for me to have received. I am hated in the world because I am now not of this world any longer. I have been chosen and adopted by God and am heir to all from God, the world no longer claims me and hates my very existence.

This should not be a surprise. The world likes what follows their line of thinking. When I go against the desires of the world, I am then considered the enemy. And as I am in the light, the world can see me and feels the need to push back and fight against that which is not like them.

I am to live my life according to the truth I receive from the Holy Spirit which is provided to me by the Father and the Son.

“²⁶But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. ²⁷And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.” – John 15:26-27 (ESV)

Jesus is making it clear that I am not alone. I may be physically facing the world by myself, but I am not alone and the Holy Spirit if fact is working silently with me on behalf of the Father and the Son. And as the Spirit works silently, I am working physically to bring the truth to the world, with the protection and assistance of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

“⁹Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. ¹⁰Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. ¹¹But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.” – 1 John 2:9-11 (ESV)

It is the truth that lights the world and that light is the enemy of darkness and will prevail.
