“2He said, ‘The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, 3my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence. 4I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies.’” – 2 Samuel 22:2-4 (ESV)
Am I looking to God as my deliverer? God wants nothing but the best for me. He wants to make sure that I am safe, secure, and strong to complete the tasks He has for me.
About 2 ½ years ago I was studying “savior” and wrote the following on this same passage: “David identifies God as his savior and “the horn of my salvation”. Think of animals with horns, those horns are not necessarily used as weapons, they are for protection. The horns are defensive tools.”
God is my protector when times are tough. He provides the right tools for the task at hand. Sometimes that is a sword, and sometimes that is a shield. My salvation gives me all that I need in just the moment I need it.
When you look at where you are, are you looking for the salvation provided by God? Are you only preparing to go out there with the sword only? Take a look and examine, what tools has God provided for you as you do his will?
