“8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, 9who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 10and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, 11for which I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher, 12which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.” – 2 Timothy 1:8-12 (ESV)
Paul makes it clear here to Timothy that he is proud and grateful for the chance to spread the gospel. He knows that there is suffering that will and has come from his faith, but it is all worth it for the protections that he receives from Jesus until His return.
I am entrusted with the same and my faith should be as strong. I have nothing to fear as I am with Him. He is my protector until He returns and takes me to be with Him forever. I have to remember to have the same pride and gratefulness that Paul has and just as he is with Timothy, he is encouraging me the same way.
I am of God and have been entrusted with the same “holy calling” and it is my duty to lead that way and allow God to protect and guard me in all that I do. He will not leave me or allow me to be harmed outside of His plan, but will guard against the influence of the devil and his manipulation.
When you look at it, what protections are you assured of? Are you able to go through life knowing that God is watching over you all the way? What if you were to embrace the faith of your “holy calling” and allow Jesus to guard you until He comes?
