Place High Value on Instruction

What we do not know we must learn from somewhere. There are things that are just not found through a search engine on the web or in a video sent to us. In order to really know those things, there has to be more than just seeing or reading it.

10Take my instruction instead of silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold, 11for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.” – Proverbs 8:10-11 (ESV)

This passage is spoken from the perspective of wisdom and her calling out. She is making it known that with her there are no more valuable things. Notice the references to things of monetary value in the above verses. Silver, choice gold, and jewels are not in the same realm of value as instruction, knowledge, and wisdom.

As I am studying the word “instruction” I am drawn to the value it presents as noted above. I have to remember that I do not know everything and I have to seek out instruction from others to know and understand.

32And now, O sons, listen to me: blessed are those who keep my ways. 33Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. 34Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting beside my doors. 35For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD, 36but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.” – Proverbs 8:32-36 (ESV)

She, wisdom, is calling out to me so that I may hear and learn. When I am seeking her, I will open up to the instruction that comes from her and understand the value I am receiving. I know the value is great based on successes of those that are giving. It is my duty to embrace that value so as to gain the knowledge and wisdom that will bring me closer to success and more importantly, closer to God.

What instructions has been offered that you may have missed? Are you looking for quick information that is found and readily available? What if you were to listen for (seek out) wisdom and listen when she begins to instruct, what value will you find there?
